Planning to meet an old time friend, I was clueless as to where should we go. She had Kaffiaa in mind; a place that she had been wanting to explore for long. The Italian Café is quite easily visible when you walk from the McDonalds in Sector 18, towards the Center Stage Mall.
The narrow entrance leads to a staircase which takes you up to the small and dark restaurant. The seating area is divided into two parts: a closed seating area and the other an open balcony which doubles up as a smoking zone as well.
The place has a strange smell to it that is particular of places that offers sheesha. As I didnt really like the smell, both of us preferred a seat in small open space which opens up to a view of the Sec 18. It's not at all a scenic view and its sole purpose is to serve as a smoking zone.
Unlike the seating area the menu was quite elaborate with a list of veg and non veg sandwiches, pastas, pizzas, burgers, and beverages. We decided to go for the penne pasta, which was a nice preparation: considering that I am not really a pasta lover, although my friend is, I loved it. Along with coffee it tasted really nice. The mushroom and cheese sandwich was disappointing. It neither looked appetizing nor had much of a taste. For sure it had a lot of scope for improvement. Choice in deserts was quite inadequate.
Overall the place is nice and deserves experimenting with more dishes. If you havent been there yet, do give it a try.
