Ampa Skywalk is all about being the hep, new Chennai crowd puller with its own set of designs and a flanky new PVR Cineplex yet to come up. All this sounds very nice to hear, but I happened to visit the mall recently, and I was upset by many things that caught my eye. Firstly, the entry ramp is to far inclined at a 60 degree above angle and the parking boys stop us exactly at that angle, it is difficult to continue climbing the ramp, secondly, the whole mall isn't fully complete yet open!- dangerous electric wires hang from the roof of the cement clad basement and fresh paint clogs your lungs- the lifts are of course not working yet so I had to climb 8 flights of stairs to reach the food court on the third floor (the escalators do not yet work from the basement to the first, although from the first floor the escalators do work). Moreover The food court isn't fully open yet, with the bathrooms still having unfinished tiling and comode fittings strewn around- the benches are glittery to take your mind of such distractions. I decided to buy a Veg Biryani from Hot chips but when I went to pay I was surprised to hear that they don't accept money but you will have to purchase some Ampa Debit Card named F cube and recharge it and then buy what you want! That totally is a waste of time + you need to pay 10 Rs. as security deposit for that card. Anyhow, that was the first shock, the second was the prices- almost everything is Rs 30 upwards and a can of pepsi which costs 20 Rs. outside is Rs. 50 inside- daylight robbery!! Also, the counters have sharp glass (unpolished) which cut my finger- dangerous for little kids. The best part was, I got free parkingThey should not have opened it until completely finished. They should have not introduced such unfriendly things such as Ampa Debit cards. Ampa Skywalk is a disaster in disguise for the moment.
