We went to this restaurant, Dhabha Express in Shanti Colony Anna Nagar, having eaten here many years back when it opened and having had a reasonably pleasant experience both with the food and service then. Alas!, this was not the case during this second and my last visit.
Seating and interiors - Its a sofa cum chair arrangement in certain sections and we were put in this. Since there was a small kid in the group, a request was made to the rather surly manager to allow us to occupy a just vacated adjacent table which was better placed to attend to the kid. He refused to allow us to change seats saying that he will not be cleaning the adjacent table of the dishes !!!. Incredibly, they did not clean the adjacent table until a period of time had elapsed.
Food - The tandoori chicken was ordered along with other dishes. This arrived at our table first along with a rather sorry looking platter of cut vegetables. The waiter after keeping the platter on our table informed us that if we wanted this platter we would have to pay 20 rupees for it!. We promptly requested him to take it back. The rest of the food arrived a bit later. Almost all the dishes were sugary or salty in excess and not palatable with the sole exception of the tandoori chicken which was quite good.
Service - The service was slow. The attendants were not to be seen. The surly manager had disappeared. At the end of this sorry excuse of a meal, just when we thought gladly of leaving the restaurant, the attendant collecting the dishes by stacking them high dropped them with a huge clatter with water and gravy flying. The food was rather expensive for the quality on offer. The attendant then asked us if we would like to finish drinking our water before leaving.
The best part of the dinner at Dhabha express in Shanti colony (Ann Nagar) was leaving.
If someone were to ask me which is the worst restaurant in Anna Nagar in terms of quality of service and food, will request them to look no further than this one.
