On the lookout for a place to have our Friday lunch outings and somebody came up with the The Rock which is near the Vijayanagar bus Stand in Velachery. As soon as we entered the sound of gurgling water out of the artificial waterfalls greeted us and I must say the decor and ambience is fantastic. Soon enough we were settled into a table and right then we started to get ourselves freezing all over. Turning around we discovered that the split air-conditioner on top of our table was switched off but the air ducts that were placed to the right of our tables was really rocking...full blast. When we complained to the waiters, well they were sort of helpless...speechless, couldn't-do-much types. We ll we settled that once we start gorging...things would turn out better.
The menus were laid out and from the prices, the message was clear that the ambience and decor had a point to prove - this place was certainly upper class, fine dining experience etc. After a short delay the soups arrived and then the starters. Once of the starters which was basically a paneer fry came first and since everyone was hungry all hands were on the plate. And just as quickly as it went in, the faces changed. The paneer had a rotten taste...guess the milk had gone bad or something. We complained to the waiter who promptly took it into the kitchen and returned back after a imaginary ISO sudit was conducted claiming that 'paneer is supposed to be like this only'. Well thank you for 'enlightening us'.
Food's done and we ordered for drinks and had to wait for at least 15 minutes to get a fresh lime juice - guess it was a communication mess-up.
The temperature was never normal...and we were freezing throughtout the meal. Guess the management could take a cue to reduce their electricity bills.
Pros : the ambience and decor
Cons : Price, quality, not really value-for-money

First of all we are happy to know that our ambience and the decor were upto your mark.Next come the temperature, quite a few days we were hearing from our guests that the air temperature is low and its freezing, if you come back again you will surely notice a moderate temperature as we have already set the temperature little higher since today. However we are as you said unable to divert the throw from a few tables.
After your complaint of the paneer taste we took it as the recipe gave extra marination and so we went cutting down the marination time, but if its the taste of paneer itself we would defenitely take care of it.Again thanks for your precious time you spent by giving your reviews in a clean manner. And it would be a pleasure knowing you if you drop by next time.Bon Apetit.
