I have no idea how they are getting excellent ratings for the worst food served in Adyar. That too continuous excellent reviews. I have been to this place when they used to serve good food. That was one year back. Recently I went to this place with my friend thinking of the same old Daawat. But it turned out to be one of the worst food experiences I had.
The place itself was dingy and the service was so pathetic although we were the only customers at the beginning.
The menu has very limited options for vegetarians. We ordered wheat paratha and aloo paratha, the size of which were very small and they were having a very stiff nature. The waiter at first did not serve the right breads and we had to wait till they made the right ones.
The chicken we ordered was served half cooked and tasted bad. The egg fried rice we ordered was way below average and the quantity was not at all satisfying (but thank GOD it was small in quantity).
Then billing was the grand finale. By the time we wanted the bill, the place was filled and Oh my Goodness they brought the wrong bill 2-3 times. Eventually we had to go to the person in charge there in order to get the right bill.
Overall the food was not good, the ambiance was not good and no value for money at all...
Average prices doesn't mean that you can serve low quality food and doesn't mean that you should not maintain the ambiance... I will never go back there again.. Chennai has many excellent options for food......
