Too small for comfort? 2011-06-30
The beauty about quitting a job is that weekdays need not be spent going to bed early or staying kosher.Plus weekdays is a great way to explore bars as the stag issue does not cause a riot, the bartender seems more humane, and you dont have to jostle with crowds vying for a seat.Even so ,I called to confirm.Easy-to-remember number 600,000 :).And yes, they did not have an issue with stags (on a weekday),although I was given the list of the "ten commandments",footwear included.

Distilled at Distil!!! 2010-02-19
Stepped in on a friday night thanking my lucky charms!l got two free drinks courtesy : Ladies Night! The free drinks however were limited to vodka and beer, if my memory serves me right.I was accompanied by a few guy friends who didn't like the idea of paying an 800 buck cover charge. The place was small but snug! Pluses : Great Music! Loved the DJ! Crowd although initially was in the age group of 30 plus but gradually came down to 20 somethings as the evening went along!! Ambience 2009-04-23
The ambience says it all.
The space of this bar and design gives it quite a unique feel that not many other bars in Madras can match that. The live band on tuesdays is worth checking out.
The Connemara still maintains the distinct colonial feel and thats evident in this place too which gives you a "brit feel" you can relate to if you've been to bars in the UK.
Pricing is a tad bit high, albeit the sides offered with your drink make up for it. And, you're also served green olives upon request. -

Cool bar in Chennai? 2007-08-04
I was staying at The Connemara on a business trip and decided to grab a drink at the hotel bar. Distil was very chic not at all what I expected in Chennai (am I a snob ?). Menu had a good selection of cocktails, wines and spirits. I had my usual Sula Cab Sav and my pal had his single malt. Ordered two snacks - beef yakitori and some south indian chicken starter. The chicken was ok but a bit dry. The yakitori never showed up.
Service was wonderful. They apologised for the screw up on teh food order but we had to leave so we cancelled the yakitori.
