Definitely Appams! 2011-12-12
This place serves the best Appams I have had in Chennai. They do have quite a variety too. However, the chicken biriyani was just average. So was the chettinadu vegetable stew. Go here just to sample the appams. -

Bad food and terrible service! 2011-08-10
I am from Kerala and live in Chennai and so very often long to eat appams. But my visit to Nalas Appakadai turned out to be a very disappointing experience. The appams were thick. The stew had boiled pieces of chicken dropped into the gravy 2 seconds before being brought to the table. We complained of this and ordered a Chicken Chettinad instead. To our shock, they brought the same chicken pieces washed n dropped into the Chettinad gravy. The staff had no idea as to how to deal with customers. It was one of the worst eating out experiences of my life. If I were you, I would give it a miss! -

Taste is good but WORST service 2011-05-02
Taste of the appam were good but the service oh man you need to teach them what to do.. right from keeping plates, serving food.. everything was tragedy.
Waiting time is too much and hence it looks like crowded always.
We got our appam 20mins after we ordered but when the appam came they were searching for the plates as our tables were empty. And when they got the plates then we realized that its only appam and other side dishes which the waiter suggested that would go good with appam were missing. You know what we got the sidedish that we ordered only after eating apppams. -
