  • When going to M'sia isn't possible 2011-06-18

Although the popularity of this place is mainly due to the lack of other places in Chennai that serve authentic Malay food, food isn't entirely disappointing.

Tried a number of dishes, some fantastic and some quite revolting. The Char Kway Teow Kambing (flat noodles with lamb) reeked of eggs & though I am a hard core non-vegetarian, this particular dish was a bit too much to handle. However, I did like the Mee Hun. Desserts and beverages are pretty unique and highly recommended too. I loved the Ice Kachang & Cendol!

Service is quick and efficient and ambience is decent too. If

  • Good on variety, ok otherwise 2011-05-18

The menu is quite interesting and long. I have tried banana parotta, egg parotta, paya (mutton feet) soup, quail curry, squid curry, etc. Well all the above were also listed with the Malaya name. It was all ok, but didn't quite relish anything in particular. Quality of rice if a neutral indicator, food definitely expensive for its quality, however they are probably charging for the Malay tag.

  • Excellent family restaurant 2009-09-12

Well it is the only place where you can have decent Malay food in a clean and cool surrounding. My wife and I have been going there since they started and I must say that the consistency in terms of service and food quality is pretty high!! And yeah its always crowded but it does have a huge seating area spread over three levels (lower, upper and outside) . A must visit in Chennai for the casual diner!

  • Go for good "Laksa and Satay" 2008-05-12

This place is always crowded! becoz this is the only place in Chennai where you will get the entire Malaya affair.
The famous Laksa, Nasi Goreng and Satay...

I tried couple of times, not very sure about authenticity, but I guess they are, as I saw the place is always full with the Malayan crowed.

    Overall good experience.
