What I like about Vishranthi/Hotspot(hotspot is their fast food joint name) is the consistency. Any time of the day the taste remains the same...I have been going there for the past three years now and every time I go, I experience the same taste...Many times you have a good meal in a restaurant and when you subsequently go there expecting the same, you sometimes get disappointed. But not vishranthi...I love their sambar, chutnies, Medhu Vada, Dosa etc.
The only thing is that some items in the fast food joint are not available inside. Like the naan items available inside are not available in the fast food joint. But other than that, it rocks.
I was also of the view that of the many places that sell dosa batter (like in departmental stores), if Vishranthi gets into that business, they will do GREAT!

I went to this place a few days back & was pleasantly surprised..I really like the food here. Came here with my family...was initially hesitant to have dinner at a place like Vishranthi. I mean..the ambience & decor is definitely not the type I like. Its more like the restaurant for a quick-bite than for an evening out with your family...but no regrets what so ever.
We ordered for butter nan, vegetable pulav, paneer butter masala, some mushroom gravy thingy, veg noodles & veg dry machurian. Everything tasted really good. The manchurian was a a lil too spicy but I still loved it! The noodles could have been better...had very less salt but then again, this isnt the place for prefect chinese food. We also had the idlis & ghee roast here....amazing stuff! I loved the dosa..crisp & smells divine :-) The best part is tht they serve it with sambar & three types of chutney.
Definitely not for chic foodies or the hoity-doity ones :-P but hey who cares..the food here is gr8. But it'd be gr8 if the service is quicker.

The place is dim lit and nice if you like such ambiance or there is fast food stall kinda place outside where you can stand and eat. But wat is really gr8 about this place is the food! The sambar is best i ve eaten in Chennai. If you havent had the idli sambar in Vishranti you are missing something, i think its much better than the over hyped idlis ambar of ratna cafe. Otherwise the north indian items gravies are pretty good too.

If you have 50 Rs in your pocket and wish to eat a hearty meal, this is the place. The sambar vada is particularly good. They also have a small, A/C hall as well. But I prefer the street-side.
