This amazing Italian Restaurant in Deccan Plaza excels in ambience, food, service in nearly every aspect. The moment u enter into the restaurant you can get the Italian feel. The waiters are very courteous and helpful. Being a first timer, the recommendations they gave were very nice. Esp. the starter-verdure, pasta-penne arabiatta, risotto , and tiramusu.
All were excellent. So i give a thumbs up to this restaurant even though it may be a little heavy on the wallet

So here I was in search of some lip smacking Italian cuisine on a lazy saturday, when I happened to hear about Osteria at the Deccan Plaza.
Italian food has never really been a hot favourite with yours truly, but when the taste buds are in search of constant variety in gastronomy, the avenues to exotica beckon and I must say that they led me to a very satisfying destination.
The restaurant itself stands out with its subtle ambience and the low lighting is perfect.
We are greeted with a complimentary sampling of garlic bread, which is soft and which packs a punch with the subtle flavouring. Full marks for the innovative manner in which it is served, with little dollops of garlic sauce inside a garlic pod.
The restaurant offers a good variety of starters with enough variety to satisfy the cravings of hungry veggies. The zuchinne ripiene contains minced vegetables cooked in sauce that are served in scooped out zuchinne cups much the same way one serves stuffed capsicum.
I do recommend the spirelli deli osteria, which is a wonderful pasta cooked in white sauce. Its utterly delectable and is not very heavy. Also the combinazione pizza with pineapples and tomatoes is made from the thinnest of crusts and just melts in the mouth.
Coming to the selection of deserts, we decided to try the tiramisu and the chocolate cake. The Tiramisu had class written all over it. The chocolate cake however looked deadly, but failed to pack a punch, but that is a small black mark in an otherwise flawless presentation of what I beleive is genuine fare from the land of the merchants from venice.
If you want to indulge your senses in pastas and pizzas cooked in the most subtle flavours and herbs, do drop into Osteria at the Deccan plaza in Royapettah- you won't regret it!

unlike the other italian restaurants in chennai who claim to be "authentic", OSTERIA comes in as a truely fantastic experience of italian fine dining.... of course AUTHENTIC, with a good collection of wine and cocktails... !!
most surprising fact was that it is 100% vegetarian, which made me a bit hesitant to step in.... but when we came out we completely forgot that urge...
the creams and cheese are fresh, and you can make that out... even all the breads and pastas are made in-house daily... fresh as it tastes.
i would call it "redefining italian food in chennai", because what we have been eating before Osteria came in, was very Indianised and typical.
A must try would be (starters: zucchini/bruschetta/jalepenos/salads), (pasta: any of them... all taste amazingly good), and (dessert: tiramisu/fruit tart).
among the bar menu, they seem to have a good collection of self created cocktails, which are quite different than other places.

its been quite sometime since i had real authentic italian food.with some hesitation i went to osteria and was amazed at the interiors, nice and welcoming.the mushroom soup was truly awesome, and was served some excellent crispy breads.garlic bread made inhouse was complimentary ,the starters were also good specially the zuchinne riepenne.the speciality pasta spireely osteria was truly special.you can try the giardine pizza, unfortunatel i could only tase little bit of rissota primavera.as i could not eat much after having so much. the finishing touch was given by the fantastic taste of tiramisu, a traditional iatalian dolci.on the whole a truly fantastic experience. the prices are okay considering it is a fine dining restaurant. the place also serves the choicest wines from around the world.........................bon appetit

The old bar in Deccan Plaza has been converted to a chic Italian restaurant. As soon as you walk in, you notice that the place is done up very tastefully.....the staff is courteous and on hand to answer any questions. Their menu is presented quite innovatively in the form of a newspaper called Osteria Times....and is entirely vegetarian. They do have a reasonably good selection of wines. The food is presented well and tastes superb. Right from the soup to the starter to the main dish, everything that we ordered turned to be exactly as we expected it to be. The pasta in a white wine cream sauce was a delight to the senses.....
On an average, you should expect to spend about Rs. 900 for two people with wine.
