This by far tops all of the places in Colaba, even the new ones. Mondy's has the best ambiance, beer, bread and more. I have most of my meet-ups with friends here as they usually have a case full of different flavors/kinds. Yesterday, we ordered the sangria pitcher and my friends absolutely raved about it. This is the place I go to every month, once at least to get my friends a long and they always have a ball. Hands down the best place in Colaba.
The artistic walls and the V shaped Cafe is an absolute joy place. Relish the chilled beer in a lovely atmosphere with a lot of noisy people. If you want to have a quiet conversation, this place is definitely not for you.
Go there on your first date or when you meet a friend after a really long time, for there is a juke box which will churn out the tunes to your liking. Me and my friend were lucky/unfortunate to grab a table right besides the jukebox and we had the most amazing time reminiscing on the tunes the juke box churned out from the bygone days.
The food is good, the portions are acceptable albeit a little less than expected, and the quality of food is also good. The tables are a little cramped so if you wanna cross the room, you end up banging into a lot of people, wonder how the waiters do it!
Visit this place, it has a certain Bombay charm, but avoid it during rush hours.
I've lost count of the number of times I've been here, yet there's something welcoming about Mondy's that draws you here every single time.
By now I have my list of favorites - Garlic mushrooms, Pork Sausages in red sauce, King Prawn tempura and the Kheema naan. All of them or at least one is a must during any visit. And yes, it all has to be washed down with pitchers of draught beer. That is just an absolute must here.
I love this place because of its food, ambience and music. They have option where in you can play your own music and it doesnot cost you much. Starters are good ..like really good and the crowds is cool too. You will find lot of firangs here and the nice locations also attracts lots of people here. The secong cool/affordable place to have drinks after gokul though its not that cheap
We had visited this place sometime back post holi syndrome and enjoying some refreshing beer and drinks at one of Mumbai's oldest Cafe Mondegar! With the walls flaunting classic comic strips by Mario Miranda, the ambience here is unmatchable! We tried some of the starters and the beer on tap (extremely reasonable) We had a great time here with my group of friends. Juke box is one of the attraction for music lovers here as we did..
The best thing I like about this place is that you can play your own music. You have to buy a coin and select song from their limited but yet exhaustive list of songs. My favourite is Beatles. On the food side, their starters are awesome. Non Veg items are fresh and yum. Do not have their juices, they take ages to deliver it to your table.
Love their artistic walls, it give such an European ambiance. This place is crowded in the evenings and packed on weekends. Will take 20 minutes to get a seat, but the benches are small and it's not spacious.
On the other day we were looking for a Multi cuisine restaurant when walking through Colaba and we decide to have our dinner here. This place is located at a prime location of Colaba. Grilled chicken sauce is one of the most popular dishes of this place. We also tried chicken pizza and tomato pizza and both are tasty as well as delicious.
Amazing ambiance, quick service and friendly servers here. A great place to have beer and some amazing food like- Cheese chilly toast, grilled chicken sausages and Carbonara spagetti pasta all of which are great tasting. Portions could be better as right now it feels very expensive compared to the quantity even though quality is top notch. It is a small place so always there is some waiting time.
Bang at the start of the Colaba causeway, Cafe Mondegar welcomes you to the ultimate street shopping experience. Like Leopold, this place is an experience in itself. Have a few beers with friends and try their juices if you are one to abstain. Great music and a lovely quirky ambiance, this place is perfect for an evening or afternoon with friends!
Recommendation: The grilled chicken sausages as mentioned by quite a few people here are absolutely brilliant.
To have cheap beer in South Mumbai along with friends just to chill out, this is the place to be. Always crowded and you got a long line outside waiting to get in. Music tends to get a little too loud at times drowning out conversations, but I guess it's meant to be that way. Love the sausages here along with the ultra cold beers.
The first you will notice is the ambience here.. Its interiors are really done very well with all the drawings on the walls.. The seating arrangement gives this place a warm vibe.. The food is really good and its a good place to catch up with a couple of friends over some drinks. Their juices are also very yum for those who don't drink alcohol!
Cafe Mondegar is more than a restaurant. It's legacy makes it a heritage tourist attraction. Continuing for generations, people have build emotional connection with the place.
Coming to food, they serve good Chinese. I ordered veg Hakka noodles with chicken in oyster hot garlic sauce. Both the dishes were prepared well; however, the quantity was insufficient for two people. I also tried the bruschettas, which were ordinary. One of the best dishes on their menu, undoubtedly has to be grilled chicken sausages. The sausages are prepared with a spicy sauce and is extremely flavorful. They are famous for their fresh fruit juices and milkshakes and they are worth trying.
Fantastic place to have beer...or to have burgers and sandwiches before catching a movie at regal nearby! I like the chicken burger here, chicken sandwich is also pretty nice. Seating is too close and not cozy at all, also the price is on expensive side and not very pocket friendly, especially for students, but of course it is a place one could stay for catching up with friends.
Good place to chill with friends, more funky ambiance than Leopold but same kind of crowd, drinking beer, having sandwiches, burgers, pasta and taste is okay, nothing hi fundoo or gourmet and price is steep but you can console your self thinking that you paid for the chilled out ambiance! I think the quality is deteriorating and would not come again.
on New Year been to Mondegar only to find out that place is boring.... No value for money. .. No taste in food with quantity which would not suffice two people!
v ordered Crunchy chicken which wasnt not at all crunchy wid lame taste. Place is very cluttered n congested!
This is really bad now, not at all what it used to be. My friend ordered a draught beer which was totally flat. When we complained the waiter just poured the beer into a new glass to try to prove it was carbonated and essentially refused to replace it. So then my friend ordered some pints of Hoegaarden. It costs 100-150 rs in a liquor store. They billed us Rs.675 per pint. That is so wrong on a moral level. The markup isn't so bad even in developed countries.I ordered a chicken sandwich which tasted awful and it was soggy, the bottom part was sticking to the plate. The only thing they delivered as advertised was my coffee. It was packed as usual and very crowded, more chaotic than lively vibe though. They wouldn't have managed to ruin our time if only they had got the sandwich and beer right. I understand that shit happens with food but refusing to replace a flat beer is bad form. Never going back here.
A lively and buzzing eatery tucked away in a corner at the causeway. Its very popular among college students, foreigners and the working population alike. They are known for their breakfast menu and do not disappoint with it. Of worthy mention are their waffles which are truly yummy. Its an ideal place to catch up with friends over beer and fries.
Sandwiched between two elaborate accessory shops around a corner at Colaba Causeway, the entrance to Cafe Mondegar is hard to miss. Having heard a lot about it earlier, my first visit came very close or even bettered my expectations of this place. As you enter, You are greeted with some great music, colorful interiors and amazing Mario Miranda paintings on the wall with a captivating ambiance. As you get accustomed to the compact and the chaotic atmosphere, you come across the staff which happens to be extremely friendly. Decent service speed and amazing non veg food. A little on the expensive side but as you will begin to eat their dishes, you'll realize it's all definitely worth it. Now, a pitcher of Shangria is all you need to enhance your visit to Mondegar. Not a place for elaborate dining or big groups, but probably one of the best places to hang out in Mumbai at anytime of the day. Also, don't listen to people who say its not a date place. Take her to Mondy's to blow her mind away. I can vouch for it to happen :)
Been to this place many time. Very easy to spot and known by most taxi drivers, this place has been a Mumbai favorite since it's inception. The food here is hit and miss, though what I really love here is the burger and fries. It's so meaty and juicy! The beer here is always cold and electric music from an old jukebox plays on. The wall is covered with drawing by a renowned goan artist and this place is over flowing with hippies and foreigners! Come here for the ambiance, people, music , stories and experience not for the food!
One will never MISS this Resto Cafe like place as its strategically situated in the most prominent spot in colaba.
Wen we visited at 7.30 pm on Wed it had a decent crowd.. mostly noisy firangees. SO this place is IDEAL for a Full on Chilling out experience...NOT Good for a Romantic dinner though !!Food is Average N not worth the price..shud improve on the portion size for sure. But HAVEN for Beer Lovers !! we had 3 fillers of the Tube Beer N sat there for almost 2.5 hrs. Music is Loud But Good collection. On 2nd thoughts one will not regret visiting this place . n we've been frequenting this N cafe Leopold since ages !! SO it Stilll rocks N wil continue to ROCK
A regular at what comes closest to a pub in south Bombay, I find Monday a safer bet anyday compared to its overhyped twin Leopold next door, particularly when it comes to the food... the endless queue is a bit of a shame though... and we could do with a bit more variety when it comes to the beer... but what the hell... I've always had the best of Friday nights out here...
Good ambience and juke box. Yummy breakfast. Its popularly known as Mondy's by all, is a cool place to hang out. Be it any time of the day u can actually land up in Mondys with friend. At the end of the day, there's not much one can say about Mondy's. It's a venerable Mumbai institution which only serves beer (and some snacks) and to pan it. but all in all, its a good place to ease off during the weekends
Had heard a lot about this place... tried out the chicken sandwich and i was impressed just exactly the way i like it. Food is a little over priced , place is a little packed with less seating capacity. A good place to chill out with friends. A bad place to take family specially kids due to lack of space. Excellent food and ambiance. The place looks like out of the British times a pure English cafe !!!
