II Greams Road, Greams Road, Chennai

Excellent

No.1 for Juices... and Shakes too!

This is my No.1 place for juices. Fruit Shop on Greams Road changed the way Chennai had juices. From a modest beginning in a small cramped up space, Fruit Shop on Greams Road has grown into a chain of several outlets spanning across the city.

I usually always visit this particular outlet. My favorites at Fruit Shop on Greams Road are Blue Dots and the Sheikh Shake, a rich milk shake of dates and other dry fruits. Apart from that they have got many other juices & shakes that you simply cannot find anywhere else.

The best part is that they even serve you in your car parked outside on the road so that you don't even have to step out of your car. Comes handy when the restaurant is full.

Prince plaza, 44 Pantheon Road, 3rd Floor, Egmore, Chennai

Excellent

Unbeatable chinese restaurant

This restaurant chain is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants. This one in particular is the oldest. Even though I haven't been to this particular restaurant. I've been to the ones in Anna Nagar and Indra Nagar and I can tell you that the quality of food is simply superb, authentic and consistent across all outlets. The ambiance and quality of service is also good.

Although its a little expensive, its worth it. If you are looking for something inexpensive yet authentic, try The Cascade in T Nagar or Kader Nawaz Khan Road, Nungambakkam.

13/143, Uthandi, East Coast Road, Chennai

Good

Excellent Ambiance, Poor Service

This Hotel Savera group restaurant has got one of the best ambiance. Infact there is nothing like it.

True to its name, it even has a cow tied outside near the parking area. The fish tank used to have a rare and beautiful fish. The sight and sound of the water falling from the roof top into the pond and jumping over the stones in the pond to reach the dining area is simply an amazing feeling.

You need to check it out for its ambiance. But be prepared for a paltry service.

When we first went there, the restaurant was hardly a few days old. We asked for a fork, they served a bottle of Coke. We ordered for a Hot & Sour Chicken Soup, the waiter pronounced it as "Hot & Shower Chicken Soup". They even served a table spoon along with soup instead of a soup spoon. There were many such goof ups by the waiters. Seems the management were in a hurry to hire some duffers.

Food quality was not bad.

255, Triplicane High Road, Triplicane, Chennai

Excellent

Awesome soft idlies

This is one of the oldest restaurants in Chennai. Idly is its specialty. They are soft and melt as soon as they are in your mouth. No one can ever come close to its idlies. Not even Saravana Bhavan or Murugan Idly Shop. Saravana Bhavan is a little expensive and Murugan Idly Shop's Idlies look like plastic toys.

The hot idlies are served in an ocean of sambar. That is, the waiter will place the idly in your plate and pour the sambar into your plate from a jug until you say stop. They won't stop even if the sambar starts overflowing from your plate. So stop talking over your mobile phone while the waiter serves or you might just wet your pants with sambar.

It is said that the recipe for its idly is secret to the family of its owner / cook and that is why no one else is able to replicate such idlies.

A couple of years back they even constructed an AC hall on the first floor.

It is almost opposite to Murugan Idly shop, just across the signal.
