It's Different!

Many colors of drink in tiny glasses. Veggie lovers you are all in for a guessing game!

And the health conscious should be quite pleased with this place!

The food isn’t spicy. It is not sweet. It isn’t tangy. It’s what one would call interesting. Because one tends to linger over the taste identifying the substances that have gone into it.

Aesthetically appealing, you get to eat Kerala food. The only thing I found similar to what was cooked back home was the strong flavor of coconut oil. I wouldn’t vouch its authentic Kerala food. But whatever is, is quite good.

Good

Highly enjoyable!

A place to go after hectic weekends. A place to go after zillion team meetings. A place to go if you really wanna talk to your boyfriend.

That’s Ashvita for you.

There is an art gallery attached with whopping high prices- I wonder if anyone actually buys that stuff!

You have rooms on the inside and chairs laid out in the serene garden. Mosquito coils will be given on request.

I love the chais out there. The French toast. The potato wedges. The food is good. Mind you, I do not sue the word excellent unlike some other places I have lavished with praise.

But Ashvita is worth the experience and the food’s good, the people courteous and yeah- there is free parking.

Poor

Okey Dokey!

I went expecting the Tam Bram atmosphere, loads of patu sarees and the wafting smell of idli vadas.

Nope. Wasn’t to be so!

The place is inexpensive. You can eat on a regular basis. But surely doesn’t warrant a drive to that place from another end of Chennai.

The Oothappams taste home made. The carrot halwa- too sweet. The Adai Aviyal you can eat better at Grand Sweets.

True I didn’t try the filter coffee- but after all I ate and with so much expectation, didn’t feel like trying the coffee. No thank you please!

Excellent

Best Gujarati n Rajasthani Thalis

Hungry as hell n wanna eat for like 150 a person? Head out to Rangoli.

I do not know the names of more than half the things on the thali, but I sure do know that all of them taste great!

And there's loads of it! You end up feeling like an overstuffed Turkey on Thanksgiving. That too American for you? Hmmm... like an overstuffed Brinjal at Sanjeev Kapoor's show. Now, dont argue about the nuances.. read on.

The buttermilk they serve is thick enough and tastes delicious.

The food with its subtle sweet n tangy flavor. The light bites, the fluffy pooris, the dal rice and the dessert -just about everything tastes great.

Must try!

A long drive away

Don’t even ask what a full tank of petrol in your car can do!

Heading out to Mahabalipuram was never on the agenda. Hanging out in quaint jewelry stores more so. So pottering around we enquired about the most-decent place to eat.

And that led us to Moonrakers. There is a story behind the name and you’ll get to read it on the menu.

I wont say too much about the service or lack of it, the obvious partiality to white-skin (no wonder fair n lovely is booming!), and the reluctance of the waiters to give what you ask for.

But if you are at Mahabalipuram, it’s a safe bet to eat at Moonrakers. The place has something edible, doesn’t look very unsafe and has a crowd.

The menu is diverse. The food, not bad. And the prices not high.

Try their Kerala coconut curries. Best to go in for plain rice and some of the curries to add on. I tried their fried rices and well… lets say, you guys better not!
