Deccan Plaza, No 36, Royapettah High Road, Royapettah, Chennai

Good

Worth another visit

The old bar in Deccan Plaza has been converted to a chic Italian restaurant. As soon as you walk in, you notice that the place is done up very tastefully.....the staff is courteous and on hand to answer any questions. Their menu is presented quite innovatively in the form of a newspaper called Osteria Times....and is entirely vegetarian. They do have a reasonably good selection of wines. The food is presented well and tastes superb. Right from the soup to the starter to the main dish, everything that we ordered turned to be exactly as we expected it to be. The pasta in a white wine cream sauce was a delight to the senses.....
On an average, you should expect to spend about Rs. 900 for two people with wine.

Ispahani Centre, 1st Floor, 123/124 Nungambakkam High Road, Nungambakkam, Chennai

Awful

Never Again

This is by far the worst place that I've been to.....We ordered tea, a fresh juice and an ice-cream and all three turned out to be unpalatable. I mean, how can anyone possibly make bad icecream??? I took one sip of my juice, and then just left it unfinished. I wonder if they even know what the concoctions that they put on the table taste like !!!

GN Chetty Road, T Nagar, T.Nagar, Chennai

Awful

Just plain awful

If I could rate this place lower than 1, believe me, I would. The first turn-off for me is that the place isn't clean. When you see waiters nonchalantly walking over spilt coffee, you start wondering if you should take a seat or walk out.
If you decide to bear that, then you find that the food is nothing to write home about either. The cutlet was burnt.....both the curries we ordered tasted the same....not same in a good way, but in a bland, uninteresting manner. There really isn't one good thing that I can write about this restaurant.....you would do well to not go in here.

Shri Devi Park Hotel, Near Soma Sunder Ground, 1, Hanumantha Street, T. Nagar, T.Nagar, Chennai

Good

Great food,good service...

These guys have chosen a great location ....with the opening up of the world's largest jewellery showroom nearby, they are almost always crowded. I would recommend that you make reservations before you go if you do not want to end up waiting for ages.
That said, their food is really good.....as of now, they only have a buffet for dinner, but there are quite a lot of dishes that line the buffet table. There is a variety of choices for vegetarians too. One of their main attractions is that they let you grill your kebabs on your table with a choice of dressings...well, actually they give you a skewer with veggies that are 90% cooked and you then grill it to your liking. Their crispy chilli potatoes are absolutely delicious. They also offer lots of dessert options on the buffet. Overall, it is definitely a good value for the money that you pay.

Good

Good food...reasonable price

The food is good...prices are not exorbitant. The place didn't make me go WOW....but neither is it too bad. If the ambience were just a bit more inviting I would probably go back more often. The buffet is a good buy.....lots of variety....and absolutely worth the 200 bucks you pay for it. Other than that I liked the mangalore bonda. The restaurant does tend to get crowded and a little noisy at peak hours.
