Cringing, craving, bingeing, braving... you always have an opinion on what's hot and what's not in your city and we just love to hear it. Besides, there's no better place to satiate that itch to bitch!
Having been to many "new" restaurants, I have come away disappointed with either the food or the service, however, 5 Senses the latest Mediterranean restaurant in Chennai, has made a lasting impression on me in terms of what other restaurants must achieve for service and food.
The first thing that hits you is the size. With a balance of indoor and outdoor seating and sufficient place between the tables, you get a sense of space. There is a bar counter (but no alcohol) and a see through area where the pizzas are made. The walls are studded with pictures of hollywood icons (Including... read more
After a lot of hype and buildup that folks gave - that you select an ice-cream and they make a fudge - etc etc... so we decided to go there last night. I just wish the experience was something I could talk about but sadly - the person at the billing counter was so rude - I was shocked beyond belief. From the other reviews I notice that its been happening for the last 1 month and who ever owns this place seems to care 2 hoots about it.
the concept- what are you trying to achieve? If this place was a nice and simple ice-cream shop with some brilliant toppings - it would have been a hit.... read more
The Eateire is small. So small that i am scared i might get stuck in their bathroom. However, I will give them points for trying to be professional. I have ordered food from there a few times and gone and eaten there a few times as well (as our office is close by) the food is so so but it is packed and presented very well. The lemon juice is decent. I tried their veg burgers- which are quite unflattering but passable.
The biryani is regular and so is the chinese. Their staff are courteous and friendly. They have this grill roasting outside, but I am yet to try that.
never having tasted iranian food before, I jumped at the opportunity of trying out a new cuisine. And so we jumped into a friends car and headed down ECR, with the only instruction that "its inside cholamandaman" on reaching the artist's village, we drove, trying to a)look for a sign which resembled a restaurant and b)a restaurant. finally on turning the corner we saw this huge gazeebo, and concluded this is the only restaurant looking place. thinking that we might be late, we went in, to find them still laying out the buffet. Being a sunday, we decided to "chill out" and well, the ambiance... read more
But there is where it stops. The food was quite tasteless, with dollops of spice and color made it completely pointless spending so much money. the worst part is that a chicken platter costs 500, and a fish platter costs 1000? for what is this kind of ridiculous pricing around is a question that needs to be understood. The taste was non existant. The chicken platter had different colored kebabs, though there were supposed to be different kinds of kebabs, I couldnt make out the difference. The fish tikkas were also pretty tasteless.
Order taking needs a lot more improvement, though the... read more
